Keep in mind that it´s no problem to lose a battle because of a skill change because you will get all the new skills you aquired during your current run.
Since there are a few skills that are rare to find, you should look out for the following skills and grab them as soon as you can: In this case you have to equip the lvl1 skill because the game will not give you a lower ranked skill than the one you have equiped! Consider this because it´ll save you a lot of trouble in the long run. IMPORTANT: Let´s say you have a lvl1 and 3 version of a skill and only need the lvl2 version of said skill. You can quicksave via LB (default setting) and then select one of the listed items after you´ve won.
